To: Members and Supporters of the Fairbanks North Star Borough Recycling Task Force (RTF)
In an effort to facilitate the process of generating a final report to the Mayor from the RTF regarding Waste-to-Energy, Reduction of Waste, Reuse of Resources, and Recycling in the Fairbanks North Star Borough on a sustainable basis, I have asked Randy Lewis to facilitate the next two meetings of the RTF. Please review the materials on the blog (http://recyclefairbanks.wordpress.com/) and on the Borough web page (http://www.co.fairbanks.ak.us/RecyclingTaskForce/).
Thank you,
Mike
Goals for the next two meetings:
1. Clarify the purpose of the task force.
2. Achieve that purpose.
3. Determine the future of the task force.
Proposed agenda:
1. Approve a mission statement for this task force.
2. Make a recommendation for the Borough Administration to address the following: Waste reduction, Reuse, Recycling and Waste to energy.
3. Establish goals and objectives for the group to achieve the mission statement.
Suggested mission statement for the Recyling Task Force: “To promote sustainable waste reduction, reuse and recycling in the Fairbanks North Star Borough.”
Goals are global and not necessarily achievable. Example: “End world hunger.”
Objectives are steps taken to achieve goals and by definition are measurable and achievable. Example: “Support local food bank.”
Randy Lewis, LCSW is married to Pam Seiser and has been a resident of FNSB since 1984. They live in an unfinished house partly constructed from salvaged materials. Randy is employed by Fairbanks Counseling & Adoption and as a contract mediator for the Alaska Court System.
